Helping Your Child Be on Time for School
Dear Parents/Guardians,
I am writing to ask for your support in improving punctuality at school. Being on time is key to making sure all students have the best chance to learn and succeed.
Arriving on time helps students start the day calmly, without missing any important lessons.
Here’s why punctuality matters:
-
Just 10 minutes late each day adds up to over 30 hours of missed learning in a school year.
-
Students who miss the start of lessons often find it harder to follow the work, which can affect their confidence and cause them to fall behind.
We understand that occasional lateness can happen, and we’re here to help if needed. By working together, we can help your child start their day right. Simple changes like packing school bags the night before, ensuring enough sleep, and setting alarms earlier can all make a difference in helping your child arrive on time.
Important Changes Starting Monday, 7th October:
-
If a student arrives less than 30 minutes late without a valid reason from a parent/guardian, they will have a 20-minute detention at break time on the same day.
-
If a student is more than 30 minutes late without a valid reason, they will have a 60-minute after-school detention that same evening.
This is a change from the current policy where all late students receive a 60-minute after-school detention.
Please Note: If your child arrives after 8:40 a.m. (Monday/Wednesday/Friday) or after 9:10 a.m. (Tuesday/Thursday), they must sign in at the main reception using the Inventry system next to the reception window.
If you have any questions, please reach out to our attendance team or your child’s Year Manager; they are here to help.
Thank you for your continued support. Together, we can ensure that every student gets the most from their education and develops positive habits for the future.
Yours faithfully,
Liam King
