Travel Arrangements and Delayed Start

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Thank you for your continued support over the last few days. I know that the weather conditions have made travel to and from school incredibly difficult and in a small number of cases, impossible.

Our Site Team has continued to do an excellent job of clearing the site so that we have been able to remain open for those students who are able to travel safely into school.

We are continuing to work closely with the local council regarding the clearing and gritting of roads around the site, including Rockwood Road. Until Rockwood Road is cleared of snow and gritted, we recommend using Woodhall Lane for dropping off and collecting students, if possible.

We have been monitoring the weather forecast very carefully and are aware that temperatures are set to drop significantly overnight tonight and tomorrow. We expect this to make travel conditions even harder on Thursday and Friday morning.

To ensure staff and students have more time to travel safely into school we are opening for students at 10am on Thursday 9th and Friday 10th January. The Rockwoods gate will remain open until 10.30am on both Thursday and Friday.

Temperatures are set to improve after 8am on Thursday and Friday and the additional time to help clear roads and paths around the site is essential to make sure we can open safely.

We appreciate that journey times may be longer at the moment. Please make sure you take extra care and be assured that students arriving later than our start time will not be issued a late mark for the rest of this week.

We have also cancelled all after school events for the rest of this week including clubs, intervention and detentions. This is to ensure our students can travel home safely before it starts to get dark and temperatures drop.

Please continue to check messages in your Arbor App and our websites for any further updates. Many thanks again for your support.

Kind regards

Louise Pratt
