I am writing to remind parents and carers of the importance of driving and parking safely at both our Rockwood gate entrance and front entrance.

We must all keep our students safe as they come and go. We must also be mindful that our busy times impact our neighbours. 

It would be very helpful if you would drop and pick up students further away from the both gates; Woodhall Lane or Pudsey Civic Hall are both a short walk away and much less congested.

Front Entrance / The Ring Road

• Please avoid dropping off and collecting students by car at the front entrance. We have a small number of students who need to be dropped off and collected at this entrance, and would ask everyone else not to use it, to avoid congestion. We simply do not have space on site for extra cars.

• Always turn left out of the entrance. It is illegal to turn right. There are cameras, and fines are issued.

Rockwoods Entrance

It is vital we help to keep traffic flowing - at a safe speed – and that when dropping off or waiting, vehicles do not block residents’ driveways.

• Road markings have been made on the street, which help ensure traffic can flow freely: please respect these and do not park or wait where there are yellow lines. 

• There is an informal ‘one way’ system whereby drivers follow an anticlockwise circuit around Rockwood Road and Rockwood Crescent – this enables the traffic to keep moving and you will find it much easier and quicker than going against the flow.

We will continue to work with the local Police and Traffic Enforcement Officers to ensure that both entrances to our site remain safe for all of our students.

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are excited to welcome our students back for the start of the new academic year! Please note the opening schedule for the coming days:

• Wednesday, 2nd September (Tomorrow): Year 7 and Year 11 students only, arriving at 8:30 AM.

• Thursday, 3rd September: All year groups return, arriving on time at 9:00 AM for coaching.

Important Notice: Roadworks and Footpath Closure

Student safety is our highest priority. Please be aware that due to ongoing construction works at the Dawsons Corner junction (A6120 Ring Road Farsley), the main footpath between Priesthorpe Avenue and Priesthorpe Lane (Main Entrance) remains closed and will not be completed in time for the start of term.

To ensure all pupils travel to and from school safely, temporary pedestrian diversion routes will be in place for the next few weeks:

• Route 1 (Pedestrian Footbridge): Students can follow the signed diversion over the footbridge on Ring Road Farsley. Pedestrian Marshalls will be on site to assist and guide students through the end of this week.

• Route 2 (Rockwood Road Entrance): For students traveling by bicycle, those unable to use the footbridge, or anyone who prefers a level route, the Rockwood Road entrance (accessed via Woodhall Park Avenue) will be open.

Please take a moment to review these routes with your child before they leave for school tomorrow so they are aware of the temporary changes.

We appreciate your patience, co-operation, and understanding as these essential roadworks are completed. We will keep you updated weekly on the progress of the scheme. If you have any immediate questions, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.
