Home Learning
Dear Parents and Carers,
As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting our students’ learning, we would like to take a moment to highlight the importance of home learning and share how we are working together to make it a positive and rewarding experience for all.
Home Learning: A Partnership for Success
Home learning, or homework, is an integral part of your child’s education and provides a range of benefits that contribute to a student’s development. At Co-op Academy Priesthorpe, we create a balance between high-quality in-school learning and independent study, and we recognise that your support plays a vital role in helping your child to succeed.
Staying Up-to-Date with Home Learning via Arbor
To help both students and parents stay on top of home learning tasks, we encourage you to make use of Arbor, our online platform. Arbor allows students and parents to view upcoming homework assignments, track deadlines, and monitor progress. Regularly checking Arbor will ensure your child remains organised and prepared for their studies. We also recommend encouraging your child to use their planner to keep track of deadlines and plan their workload effectively.
Priesthorpe Home Learning Pathways
To support students in developing strong home learning habits, we have created a structured pathway designed to offer guidance and encourage positive learning behaviours. By working together students, parents, and staff we aim to ensure every student is fully prepared for their learning journey.
HL1 - A Reflection Opportunity
If a student misses a homework deadline, we view it as an opportunity to reflect on their approach to home learning (HL1). During this stage, students receive support and clear guidance on completing the work and are provided with a new deadline. Arbor will indicate that the homework is "not submitted," and we encourage you to discuss the new deadline with your child to help them stay on track.
HL2 - Guided Support
Should a student need additional support, they will enter the HL2 stage, where we work closely to help them succeed. This stage includes a Home Learning Compulsory Code (HLCC) and attendance at a supportive subject-specific session designed to help them complete their tasks. Parents will be notified via Arbor and email. Once the work is completed, it will appear as "submitted late" on Arbor.
HL3 - Extended Support for Success
If challenges persist, we will provide extended support (HL3) through an after-school session on Friday, where students will focus on completing their assignments and developing effective study skills. This additional guidance aims to equip them with the tools they need for long-term success. Parents will receive an email and once completed, the incident will be resolved, and the home learning will be marked as "submitted late" on Arbor.

Arbor Parent Portal and Parent App Guide
We encourage all parents and carers to maintain an open dialogue with us about your child’s home learning experience. If there are any concerns or if you feel your child may need additional support, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with the school. Together, we can ensure that home learning is a positive and productive part of your child’s education.
Thank you for your continued support. By working in partnership, we can help every student to achieve great outcomes.
Yours sincerely,
Siobhan Simms
