The Weather and Travel to School letter from the Principal

Happy New Year. This time of year often brings with it challenges around the weather.

I would like to start by reassuring you that safety is our number one priority.

We had a team of staff working on Sunday and Monday to clear the site and make it safe for students and staff to return to school today. A few years ago we also invested in equipment, including a tractor, to make sure we are able to clear our site quickly in extreme weather. I am aware that other schools in the local area are still working hard to clear their sites and open.

I know the roads and paths in the area, particularly around the Rockwoods entrance, are still slippy. I have reached out to the Local Council to request they take the appropriate safety measures to clear the roads and paths around school, including Rockwood Road. Like you, I am keeping a very close eye on the weather forecast for the rest of the week. I remain optimistic that we can continue to maintain a safe school site and will continue to work with the Council regarding the roads and paths in the area. Until Rockwood Road is cleared of snow and gritted, I recommend using Woodhall Lane for dropping off and collecting students, if possible.

I appreciate that journey times may be longer at the moment. Please make sure you take extra care and be assured that students arriving later than our usual start time will not be issued a late mark for the rest of this week.

To further support journey times we will be starting school at 9am every day this week.

Please continue to check messages in your Arbor App and our websites for any further updates. Thank you for your continued support.

Kind regards

Louise Pratt
