Jamie's Farm

Jamie's Farm

Recently, a group of 11 Year 7 and 8 students had the exciting opportunity to travel to Monmouth in Wales for the Jamie's Farm Residential. I’m pleased to share some highlights and photos from this experience so you can see firsthand what they were up to!

Each day began early, with students jumping right into farm life by feeding and moving animals and preparing breakfast. After a morning check-in, they tackled a variety of tasks throughout the farm—from gardening and cooking to farming and wood-chopping—only pausing for lunch and a quick snack break.

In the late afternoon and evening (often navigating back to the farm in the dark!), the group took walks to a local viewpoint. Each evening concluded with a communal meal and a bedtime story, and by the end of the week, we managed to achieve an impressive 8:30 pm lights-out!

Throughout their time on the farm, each student developed valuable skills, from resilience to teamwork, and it was a pleasure to witness their confidence and personalities grow. For the majority of the students, this was their first time staying overnight away from home and many of them had moments that tested their patience and persistence.
