Committed to Community Work

Building Leaders of the Future

Welcome to

Co-op Academy Priesthorpe

Our academy has a very special ethos, which visitors continue to comment on. Equity and equality are key drivers for us in making sure all students are able to excel within a highly inclusive and supportive community.

We have the highest expectations of our staff, students and parents, and strongly believe that embracing rather than avoiding challenge is critical if our students are to achieve the exceptional outcomes they are capable of. This ensures our students become independent, life-long learners equipped with the knowledge and skills they will need to become successful adults, both in the workplace and beyond.

Co-op Academy Priesthorpe serves a diverse community and is extremely proud of the empathy, tolerance and respect its members show each other. These qualities underpin our total commitment to develop the whole child, academically, socially and emotionally.

In summer 2022, we achieved our best ever Year 11 outcomes, with a Progress 8 score of +0.30. In 2023, our outcomes are, once again, above national figures.

A Warm Welcome
From our Headteachers

Martin Blacoe and Louise Pratt Joint Headteachers

We have been Senior Leaders at Priesthorpe since 2011, and have been incredibly proud to serve its community ever since. There have been countless highlights during our time at Priesthorpe. We have been privileged to see students achieve exceptional grades and go on to study at top universities including, Leeds, Manchester, Oxford, and Cambridge, and in summer 2022, we achieved our best ever progress and attainment outcomes. We have also been humbled to watch students overcome significant challenges, and, through their resilience, achieve great things. Excellent grades are one part of our students’ journey. Becoming hard-working, kind, and compassionate young adults, ready to contribute positively to life in their communities and beyond, is just as important to us. There is a comprehensive careers programme in place. This helps pupils, including students in the sixth form, to prepare well for life after school. Sixth-form students also benefit from the opportunity to develop wider skills, including sign language. Pupils are able to undertake relevant work experience. The number of pupils who leave school without a place in education or employment is lower than the national average.
